(Job Description – Registered Nurse

General responsibilities for all Registered Nurse
Handing and taking over patients, drugs and details report at every shift change.
Go for rounds with consultants, note down and implement instructions.
Render total effective nursing care.
To plan for the nursing care critically ill patients.
Rising of various requisitions related to treatment and other nursing procedures.
Administration of oral drugs, intravenous, intramuscular injections.
Bedside Nursing care for very ill patients, orthopedic and Neuro patients.
Taking care of all equipments like Ventilator, Defibrillator, and Humidifier, Cardiac monitor, Infusion pumps, Oxygen, Flow meters and vacuum suction is functioning properly.
Coordinate with ward secretary regarding admissions, discharges of patients and billing activities.
To identify notifiable disease and inform to the medical record department.
Coordinate with Food Services and dietary departments for patient diets.
Administration of Intra Venous (I.V) therapy.
Setting up care for central line special procedures trays, dressing trolleys to assist the doctors.
Preparation of patients for minor, major and emergency surgeries.
To check Blood Pressure (BP) apparatus larynges scope and torch light.
To check the blood gas depending on the stability of the patient for extubation.
To take care of patient with continuous bladder drainage.
To take care of Tracheotomy patients.
Responsible for the disposal of biomedical waste.
To follow hand washing technique.
To ensure safety precaution of the patients.
To check the cleanliness of the unit
To participate and contribute to departmental quality initiatives
To be aware of departments performance and objective.
To carryout data collection/support in data collection.
To adhere the safety norms of hospital and follow both patient safety and staff safety rules.
To perform any Job / task as and when by the superior.
To follow strict isolation techniques
To coordinate with other departmental activities and that should be related to the health care services of the patient.
Emergency – Staff Nurse (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsiblities)
To take care of Tracheotomy patients.
Responsible for the disposal of biomedical waste.
To be aware of MLC procedures, ambulance services and various procedures done in Emergency.
To have knowledge on triaging the patient.
To be ready to manage disaster.
To participate in the vaccination programmes and health camps conducted by our hospital.
To maintain documents legibly
ICU –Staff (In addition to perform General Staff nurse responsiblities)
Maintenance of medical and nursing records related to daily routine work for patients.
