Decide on Allowances and process tolerances, and finally freeze the complete process on paper for bulk production. Interact with external suppliers to guide them for product requirements and freezing the process for future bulk production.
Visit suppliers for streamlining processes outsourced.
Improve upcoming development based on lessons learned from similar developments.
Review on going developmental procedures; continually improve them for optimum productivity and quality. Continually improve overall sample development process.
Define measurement systems, use proven methodology for approving samples and freeze them for bulk production.
Ensure that procedure followed during sample development is easy to replicate while bulk production.
Adopt latest trends in Metal fabrication practices.
Knowledge on various tooling for desired product features.
Ability to decide required jigs & fixtures for individual processes and setups. Validate tooling, jigs & fixtures for bulk production.
Thorough drawing reading and interpretation skills with a clear understanding on G&DT and ability to guide down the line.
Awareness on national and international standards for fabrication..
Responsible for preparing well defined process sheets with utmost clarity for each process / product. Manage its document control system, engineering change, revision levels, records keeping etc.
Initiate savings on sample developmental cost, maintain the budgetary line throughout the developmental cycle in selection and defining the process, its tooling, jigs & fixtures, handling procedure, cycle time, loading & unloading time.
Maintain a clear cut manufacturing capability matrix for in-house and outsourced processes in terms of types of materials, minimum & maximum size & weight, minimum quantity required, dimensional, special processes requirements etc.
