
Job Summary:
The Trainer – Stitcher (Footwear) in Leather is responsible for delivering hands-on and theoretical training to learners in the domain of footwear stitching, aligned with NSQF standards. The trainer will ensure that trainees gain the required skills to produce quality leather footwear, operate machinery, and follow industry-standard processes while maintaining safety and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver structured training sessions on Stitcher – Footwear (NSQF Level 3/4) qualification pack.
Train learners on the use of stitching tools, machines (flatbed, post bed, zigzag, etc.), materials, and techniques.
Provide hands-on demonstrations for stitching various parts like uppers, linings, soles, etc.
Instruct on footwear quality parameters, defect identification, and corrective actions.
Maintain discipline, monitor trainee performance, and support slow learners.
Prepare and update daily lesson plans, session notes, and learning materials.
Conduct pre-assessment, formative assessments, and support in final assessment coordination.
Maintain training center infrastructure, equipment, and consumables.
Submit regular reports on attendance, progress, and feedback to the Training Coordinator.
Ensure adherence to health & safety, EHS guidelines, and industry practices during training.
Coordinate with industry/employer partners for exposure visits or on-the-job training (if applicable).
Key Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency in leather footwear stitching techniques and equipment handling
Knowledge of leather types, footwear components, tools, and production flow
Good communication and instructional skills
Ability to engage learners of different backgrounds, including youth and marginalized groups
Knowledge of NSQF standards, LSSC QPs, and training methodologies
Basic computer literacy (MS Office, Email, Report Writing)
Educational & Professional Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Leather / Footwear Technology or related field
Preferred: Certificate from LSSC / NSDC approved ToT (Training of Trainers) program
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on industry experience in leather footwear stitching
Training Experience: 1+ year as a trainer/facilitator preferred
Desirable:
Experience in working with skilling projects like PMKVY, DDU-GKY, TNSDC, or State Missions
Ability to train women, PWDs, or special groups
Multilingual capacity (Local language + Hindi/English)
