Description

Job Title: Trainee Engineer – Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant

Department: Operations / Engineering
Location: Chennai , Cochin and Trivandrum

Job Summary:

The Trainee Engineer will be trained in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment systems. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience with treatment processes, plant equipment, safety standards, and environmental compliance to develop future engineers capable of handling plant responsibilities independently.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support

  • Assist in daily operation of the treatment plant, including starting/stopping equipment, monitoring performance, and adjusting parameters under supervision.
  • Monitor and record key parameters such as flow rates, chemical dosages, pH, turbidity, and pressure levels.

Testing & Sampling

  • Collect water, wastewater, and sludge samples from different treatment stages.
  • Perform or assist with basic lab tests (BOD, COD, pH, TSS, etc.) to monitor plant performance.

Maintenance & Equipment Monitoring

  • Support routine maintenance tasks under the guidance of the maintenance team.
  • Inspect pumps, blowers, valves, sensors, and other equipment for issues.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and reporting equipment malfunctions.

Data Recording & Reporting

  • Maintain logs of daily operations, chemical consumption, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal reports and statutory compliance documentation.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Follow plant safety protocols and ensure usage of proper PPE.
  • Understand and support compliance with local pollution control norms and environmental standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes.
    • Understanding of mechanical/electrical systems.
    • Familiarity with basic report writing.
    • Good communication and team coordination skills.
  • Experience: 0–5 year (Freshers encouraged to apply).

Training and Career Progression:

  • Structured training program across different sections of the plant.
  • Opportunity to grow into roles such as Process Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Plant Supervisor based on performance.
