
Job Summary:
The Bombay Lathe Machine Operator is responsible for independently operating a Bombay-type lathe (heavy-duty lathe machine) for turning, facing, boring, threading, and grooving operations on large and heavy metal components. The role requires precision, hands-on skills, and familiarity with heavy machining processes in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate Bombay lathe machines for heavy machining tasks.
Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and machining instructions.
Perform turning, facing, drilling, boring, and threading operations on large shafts, cylinders, or flanges.
Select appropriate tools, cutting speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.
Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and dial gauges.
Ensure machining dimensions and tolerances are met as per specifications.
Maintain the lathe machine, tools, and work area in good condition.
Follow safety procedures while handling large components and machine operations.
Coordinate with the quality control team for component inspection and approvals.
Maintain accurate production and machine logbooks.
