Key Responsibilities:
Material Selection:
Choose appropriate building materials (steel, concrete, etc.) based on project requirements, considering strength, durability, and cost.
Load Calculations and Stress Testing:
Perform calculations to determine loads, stresses, and stability of structures under various conditions (wind, earthquakes, etc.).
Construction Oversight:
Supervise construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
Collaboration:
Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers on project teams.
Compliance:
Ensure designs and construction comply with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve structural issues and offer solutions for repairs or modifications.
Documentation:
Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for construction projects.
Design and Analysis:
Develop structural designs for new buildings, bridges, and other structures, as well as analyze existing structures for renovations or repairs.
