
Job Purpose:
The Audit Manager – Retail is responsible for overseeing branch, warehouse, and head office audits to ensure compliance with company policies, inventory accuracy, cash handling procedures, and statutory regulations. This role ensures operational efficiency, minimises risks, and strengthens internal control systems across all retail outlets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Audit Planning & Scheduling
Develop and implement an annual retail audit plan covering all branches, warehouses, and key departments.
Schedule periodic and surprise audits for inventory, sales, and cash handling.
Assign, guide, and review the work of the audit team.
2. Store & Warehouse Audits
Verify stock levels, physical inventory counts, and compare with system records.
Check compliance with SOPs for stock handling, goods receiving, and dispatch.
Identify pilferage, stock discrepancies, and wastage.
3. Financial & Operational Controls
Review daily sales reconciliation, POS reports, and banking deposits.
Monitor compliance with cash management policies.
Evaluate vendor billing, purchase orders, and discounts for accuracy.
4. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to statutory requirements (GST, ESI, PF, etc.).
Monitor adherence to company retail policies and brand guidelines.
Identify risks in operations and recommend preventive measures.
5. Reporting & Recommendations
Prepare clear and concise audit reports highlighting irregularities and improvement areas.
Present findings to senior management and recommend corrective actions.
Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure closure.
6. Team Management
Lead and train internal auditors on retail-specific audit techniques.
Foster a culture of compliance and accountability in the audit team.
