The Stitcher – Footwear is responsible for assembling and stitching leather upper components of footwear as per the design specifications. The role demands accuracy, speed, and quality consciousness, contributing directly to the overall finish and durability of the product.

Key Responsibilities:

• Stitch upper components of leather footwear using flatbed, post-bed, or zigzag machines.
• Interpret work orders and samples to ensure correct stitching patterns and designs.
• Operate sewing machines safely and efficiently, adjusting tension and settings as required.
• Check materials before stitching for defects or inconsistencies.
• Maintain stitching quality and production targets as per company standards.
• Coordinate with cutters, assemblers, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
• Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of stitching equipment and tools.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards on the shop floor.
• Report any machinery faults or quality concerns to the supervisor immediately.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in leather or footwear stitching (formal or informal sector).
• Skilled in operating industrial sewing machines (flatbed, cylinder bed, post-bed, etc.).
• Ability to read and follow job specifications and design patterns.
• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of safety procedures and product handling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified under NSQF Level 3 – Stitcher Footwear job role (preferred but not mandatory).
• Familiarity with quality standards in export-oriented units (EOUs) is an added advantage.
• Ability to work in a team and meet daily production targets.
