
Job Purpose:
To carry out surface preparation and painting/coating of industrial components, machinery, or fabricated structures to ensure corrosion resistance, proper finish, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Surface Preparation
Clean, sand, grind, or blast surfaces to remove rust, scale, grease, and old paint.
Prepare metal surfaces using wire brushing, sandpaper, or power tools.
Mask or cover areas not to be painted.
2. Painting & Coating
Mix paints, primers, and thinners according to specified ratios.
Apply paints, primers, and coatings using spray guns, rollers, or brushes.
Ensure even coating thickness and proper adhesion.
Follow process parameters for drying and curing.
3. Quality Control
Inspect surfaces before and after painting for defects (uneven coating, runs, blisters, etc.).
Maintain correct film thickness using measuring gauges.
Follow customer specifications and company quality standards.
4. Equipment & Material Handling
Properly maintain and clean spray guns, hoses, and paint mixing equipment.
Handle paints, solvents, and chemicals safely as per MSDS.
Store paints and materials in designated areas under proper conditions.
5. Safety & Housekeeping
Follow all safety guidelines, including use of PPE (mask, gloves, respirator, goggles).
Ensure adequate ventilation during painting operations.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the paint shop area.
6. Documentation
Record paint batch numbers, mixing ratios, and consumption details.
Maintain daily work reports and inspection records.
