Inspecting and Testing: Perform routine inspections and tests on incoming raw materials, in-process production, and finished products. This involves visual examinations and using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and potentially electronic inspection equipment or CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines).
Documentation and Reporting: Document inspection results, including details of any defects, deviations, re-works, and waste. Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of all quality control activities.
Standards and Compliance: Read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and specifications to understand product requirements. Ensure that all operations and products comply with company policies, industry standards (like ISO 9001 or AS9100), and relevant legal regulations.
Problem-Solving & Corrective Actions: Identify the causes of product defects or non-conformities and recommend adjustments or corrective actions to the production process. Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
Equipment Maintenance: Keep measurement and testing equipment operating accurately by following operating instructions, performing calibrations, and calling for repairs when needed.
Training and Mentorship: Train production team members or junior inspectors on quality control measures, procedures, and best practices to improve overall product excellence.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required for entry-level positions, with on-the-job training provided. Some roles may prefer an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field or industry-specific certifications
