
Job Summary
The Service Advisor serves as the primary liaison between customers and the service department. This role is responsible for greeting customers, understanding their vehicle service needs, explaining recommended repairs and maintenance, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the service process.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers promptly and professionally in person, by phone, or online
Listen to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle issues
Advise customers on necessary repairs, maintenance, and service intervals
Prepare and explain service estimates, timelines, and pricing
Obtain customer authorization before performing work
Coordinate with technicians to ensure accurate diagnosis and timely repairs
Monitor repair progress and keep customers informed of status updates
Review completed work with customers and explain invoices
Promote additional services, maintenance packages, and warranties when appropriate
Handle customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally
Maintain accurate service records and customer information in the system
Follow all company policies, safety standards, and manufacturer guidelines
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Previous experience as a Service Advisor or in automotive customer service (preferred)
Strong knowledge of automotive systems and maintenance practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to explain technical information in a clear, customer-friendly manner
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Proficiency with dealership or shop management software
