
Job Summary
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety policies and procedures at project sites to ensure a safe working environment. The role involves conducting risk assessments, enforcing compliance with statutory regulations, promoting safety awareness, and preventing accidents and hazards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Implementation & Monitoring
Enforce company HSE policies and site safety procedures.
Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits.
Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with safety standards during project execution.
2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) / Risk Assessments before work commencement.
Monitor high-risk activities (hot work, excavation, working at height, confined space).
Ensure proper permit-to-work system implementation.
Monitor gas detection and emergency safety measures (for PNG/LPG sites).
3. Training & Awareness
Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Train workers on PPE usage and emergency procedures.
Promote safety awareness campaigns and drills.
4. Incident Management
Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
Maintain accident records and compliance documentation.
5. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain safety registers, inspection reports, and compliance records.
Ensure statutory compliance with applicable safety regulations.
Coordinate with government authorities during inspections.
Support internal and external HSE audits.
6. Emergency Preparedness
Ensure availability of fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
Conduct mock drills and emergency response training.
Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures when required.
