Description

  • Risk Management & Planning: Implement Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all activities, including excavation, structural steel erection, and equipment installation.
  • Site Inspections & Audits: Perform daily safety walks to identify hazards (e.g., exposed live parts, inadequate earthing, improper scaffolding) and ensure compliance with site safety plans.
  • Permit to Work (PTW) Management: Issue and manage PTWs for high-risk activities, particularly ensuring proper LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and earthing of 33kV lines before maintenance or testing.
  • Safety Training: Conduct daily toolbox talks (TBT) and safety induction training for new personnel on substation-specific hazards.
  • PPE Compliance: Monitor and enforce the use of specialized PPE, including arc-rated clothing, rubber gloves, gumboots, and hard hats.
  • Equipment & Tools Safety: Inspect power tools for double insulation, verify earthing of machines, and ensure tools are safe for high-voltage application.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing reports and implementing corrective actions.
  • Emergency Response: Ensure first-aid kits and fire fighting systems (CO2/Dry chemical) are available, and manage emergency evacuation plans.
  • Documentation: Maintain safety records, inspection checklists, and accident logs.
