Description

The Commis Chef is responsible for assisting in the daily food preparation and kitchen operations while maintaining hygiene, quality, and safety standards. The role involves preparing ingredients, supporting senior chefs, and ensuring smooth kitchen workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of food as per standard recipes and instructions.
  • Prepare mise en place for daily kitchen operations.
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.
  • Store food items properly according to food safety standards.
  • Follow FIFO (First In First Out) and food rotation procedures.
  • Assist in receiving and checking kitchen supplies and stock.
  • Maintain proper grooming and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Support senior chefs during buffet, banquet, and à la carte service.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations.
  • Minimize food wastage and maintain portion control.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Diploma / Certification in Hotel Management or Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards.

Experience:
