Job Purpose:

  1. Ensure Safe & smooth operation of Boiler
  2. Perform preventive and Routine maintenance in Boiler.
  3. Support & coordination with production team with Minimum steam pressure fluctuations
  4. Data Recording & entry into system for Boiler analysis
  5. Follow safety and compliance standards.

Job Profile:

Utility Engineer – Boiler & WTP Operation

1. Operation & Monitoring

  • Start-up, operation, and shutdown of boilers as per SOP.
  • Monitor boiler parameters: steam pressure, temperature, feedwater level, fuel supply, and flue gas conditions.
  • Maintain logbook of operating data (hourly/daily readings).
  • Respond promptly to alarms and abnormal conditions.
  • Continuous Fuel stock & quality Monitoring with Update to supervisor.

2. Maintenance & Upkeep

  • Carry out routine checks: blowdown, lubrication, fuel system, water level gauges.
  • Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance of boiler and auxiliaries (pumps, fans, valves, safety devices).
  • Report abnormalities or defects immediately to maintenance/shift engineer.
  • Ensure boiler house cleanliness and housekeeping.

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Strictly follow IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) / statutory guidelines.
  • Test and maintain safety devices: safety valves, pressure gauges, water level indicators.
  • Ensure safe fuel handling and storage (coal, oil, gas, biomass as applicable).
  • Comply with energy conservation and environmental norms (emission limits, effluent disposal).
  • Follow PPE and safety protocols to prevent accidents.

4. Water Treatment & Quality

  • Check boiler feedwater and condensate parameters (pH, hardness, TDS, dissolved oxygen).
  • Maintain chemical dosing and softener/DM plant operation if assigned.
  • Record water test results and coordinate with water treatment team.

5. Coordination & Documentation

  • Maintain shift logbooks and daily reports for steam generation, fuel consumption, and downtime.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, and utility teams for smooth operation.
  • Assist during statutory inspections and third-party audits.
  • Train helpers or junior operators in safe boiler operation.

6. Emergency Handling

  • Handle boiler trips, low water level, high pressure, or fuel interruptions safely.
  • Execute emergency shutdown procedures.
  • Inform supervisors and record incidents with corrective actions.
