Description

The Production Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day production activities in the cashew processing unit. The role involves ensuring smooth production operations, maintaining quality standards, monitoring manpower, recording production data, and following food safety and hygiene practices to achieve daily production targets.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Assist the Production Manager in planning and executing daily production activities.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned schedule.
  • Monitor workflow across all production stages including steaming, shelling, drying, peeling, grading, and packing.
  • Coordinate manpower allocation to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure machines and equipment are operated safely and efficiently.
  • Report machine breakdowns and coordinate with the maintenance team.

Quality & Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards.
  • Follow GMP, GHP, HACCP, and food safety procedures.
  • Monitor product quality during processing and packing.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Minimize wastage and improve recovery percentages.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily production reports.
  • Record production output, wastage, downtime, and manpower utilization.
  • Maintain inventory records for production materials.
  • Submit reports to the Production Manager on time.

Team Coordination

  • Supervise production workers during assigned shifts.
  • Train new workers on production procedures and safety practices.
  • Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Foster teamwork and effective communication among production staff.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Ensure a clean and hygienic production environment.
  • Follow all workplace safety guidelines.
  • Ensure workers use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Production, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Freshers with a willingness to learn are welcome. Candidates with 1–3 years of experience in food processing or manufacturing are preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of production processes.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Strong observation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
  • Basic computer knowledge (MS Excel and MS Word).
