Our Promoter
SUNBEST is promoted by Dr. C. Palaniappan, a pioneer in solar energy with 35+ years of experience in solar energy research and development of innovative applications. His doctoral thesis on “Solar Agricultural Drying” at Milan University fetched him the Young Scientist Award in 1986. He has served in various institutions including as Reader in Solar Energy at School of Energy Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University, India.

Dr. C. Palaniappan has been in the forefront of advocating renewable energy across India. He is responsible for launching the PLANTERS ENERGY NETWORK (PEN) a registered NGO in 1989, having the Chairmanship of the eminent scientist, Prof. M.S. Swaminathan, to promote renewable energy applications and energy conservation in plantation industry and other industries.

He is an acknowledged world-wide thought leader on Industrial Solar Thermal Solutions and the International Energy Agency, Paris (IEA) had invited to be on its Task Force to research on introduction of solar thermal energy to industrial applications. He represented India in the study group for Solar Drying feasibility which was organized by UNESCO and EEC.

His passion for research on solar energy has resulted in the publication of more than 90 scientific papers in journals, seminars, workshops; he has also authored 3 books - “Energy Perspectives in Plantation Industry”, “Renewable Energy Applications to Industries” and “Renewable Energy Technologies-Applications to Industries and Agriculture”.
