A Store Incharge in a manufacturing unit is responsible for managing the storage, inventory, and movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods. This role ensures smooth production by maintaining proper stock levels and accurate records.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Inventory Management
Maintain proper stock of raw materials and components
Monitor stock levels and avoid shortages or overstocking
Conduct regular physical stock verification
B. Material Receipt
Receive incoming materials from suppliers
Check quantity and quality against purchase orders
Prepare Goods Receipt Note (GRN)
C. Storage & Organization
Store materials systematically (rack/bin system)
Label and categorize items properly
Ensure safe handling and storage conditions
D. Material Issue
Issue materials to production departments as per requirement
Maintain records of material movement
Follow FIFO (First In First Out) method
E. Record Keeping
Maintain stock registers and inventory software
Update daily inward and outward entries
Prepare reports for management
F. Coordination
Coordinate with:
Purchase department
Production team
Suppliers and logistics
Ensure timely availability of materials
G. Safety & Housekeeping
Maintain clean and organized store area
Follow safety standards for storage
Prevent damage, theft, or loss
H. Stock Control & Audits
Conduct periodic stock audits
Identify slow-moving or obsolete items
Minimize wastage and losses
