Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Planning (From Job Card Stage)

  • Review job cards, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Prepare Quality Plans, Inspection Test Plans (ITP), and checklists for each job.
  • Define critical quality checkpoints across all stages of production.
  • Ensure all quality requirements are clearly communicated before production starts.

2. End-to-End Quality Control (Job Card to Assembly)

  • Monitor and control quality at all stages:
    • Incoming raw materials
    • Fabrication and machining
    • Sub-assemblies
    • Final assembly and finishing
  • Approve stage-wise completion before moving to the next process.
  • Ensure traceability of materials and components as per job card.
  • Verify that final assembly meets functional and safety requirements.

3. Inspection & Testing Management

  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Ensure proper use and calibration of measuring and testing instruments.
  • Validate test results and approve final product release.
  • Maintain records such as inspection reports, test certificates, and quality logs.

4. Coordination & Cross-Functional Integration

  • Coordinate with:
    • Production – to ensure adherence to quality standards
    • Design/Engineering – for clarifications and changes
    • Procurement – for supplier quality issues
    • Stores – for material quality and traceability
  • Ensure smooth communication of quality requirements across departments.

5. Non-Conformance & CAPA Management

  • Identify, document, and control non-conforming products.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for defects and failures.
  • Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure closure.

6. Budgeting & Cost of Quality

  • Prepare and manage quality-related budgets (inspection tools, testing equipment, training).
  • Monitor cost of poor quality (COPQ): scrap, rework, rejection, warranty claims.
  • Implement measures to reduce defects and improve first-time-right production.
  • Optimize inspection processes to balance cost and compliance.

7. Regulatory Compliance & Audits

  • Ensure compliance with medical device standards such as ISO 13485, GMP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits and certifications.
  • Lead internal audits and support external/customer audits.
  • Ensure document control and record retention as per standards.

8. Team Leadership

  • Lead and supervise quality inspectors and technicians.
  • Assign inspection tasks and monitor performance.
  • Provide training on quality standards, SOPs, and inspection techniques.
  • Build a quality-focused culture across the organization.
