Description

VMC Setter Cum Operator – Job Description

Position: VMC Setter Cum Operator
Department: Production / Machine Shop
Location: Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu
Experience: 1–5 Years (Freshers with relevant qualification can be considered as Trainee)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate VMC (Vertical Machining Center) machines as per production requirements.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
  • Perform machine setting, tool offsetting, and job changeovers.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and process sheets.
  • Monitor machining operations and ensure product quality.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, etc.
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy and maintain production records.
  • Replace cutting tools and perform minor machine maintenance.
  • Follow safety, quality, and 5S standards on the shop floor.
  • Achieve daily production targets with minimum rejection.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of VMC machine operations and machine setting.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments.
  • Understanding of machining processes and tooling.
  • Basic knowledge of CNC programming is an added advantage.

Qualification:

  • ITI (Machinist / Turner / Fitter)
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME)
  • BE Mechanical (for Trainee positions)

Preferred Machine Experience:

  • VMC Machines (Mazak, Fanuc, Cosmos)
  • Knowledge of Tool Offset, Work Offset, and Tool Change Procedures.

Salary:

CTC: ₹25,000 – ₹35,000 per month (Based on experience and skill level)
